Papua New Guinea DVD

The diving was off the island of New Britain, part of the Bismarck Archipelago, located just east of the main Island of Papua New Guinea. I started my adventure in Kimbe Bay and traveled east to Rabaul. This area of the world still remains undeveloped. At many of the dive sites we were met by local villagers who paddled out to greet us in their hand dug-out canoes with outriggers. Hoping to trade their fresh caught fish, fruits and vegetables from the jungles for packets of rice, soap and candy.

As this area has more marine life varieties than almost anywhere else in the world, it was not hard for me to photograph many exotic animals that I had never had the pleasure of seeing in the past. Most of the dive sites were relatively shallow with great visibility. The waters are enriched with currents from the Coral Sea, Bismark Sea and the Solomon Sea. The only downside to this adventure was the difficulty getting there, many airplane transfers and long flights but well worth the opportunity for superb underwater footage.
